KEY FACTOR:

Key to the success of your residential cleaning company is to have a defined process in place for everything you do in your cleaning service.  It is even better if they are the best processes.  You must have a clearly defined process in place for recruiting new internal(employees) and external clients.  Without a constant source of both internal and external clients you cannot grow.  Then you must have defined processes for training  and retaining your internal client as well as processes for retaining your external client.   There are two ways you can find the list of processes you need and insure they are the best processes:  1) trial and error  2)  seek the advice and support materials of someone who has experience in the residential cleaning service environment.

ACTION ITEM:

Make a list of ALL of the processes you need in your business from setting and tracking an annual goal to receiving an endorsement posting on Angie’s list or Yelp for the outstanding cleaning performance your company consistently delivers to their home every other week from cleaners who are always so happy.  Believe it or not there is a process that makes this happen.  There is a process that should be documented and followed for each thing in your company.  Some processes may only be necessary to follow a couple of times a year, but if there is no process those bricks will be missing and your foundation will eventually crumble or, at the very best, you will not be able to build your company any larger.  You will forever be filling holes and there will not be any time left to grow.   What is key here is to be sure you have a complete list of items that needs processes.  Alleviating any processes could hamper your growth.  If you are an up and running company compare your list to what you have in place.  Make a list of those items you need to write a policy for and put in place.  Again, there are two ways to develop this list.

IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS:

Begin by prioritizing each item on your  process to do list.  Excel spread sheets are great for to do lists.  Be sure to include a due date column.  Do not overschedule yourself.   If you start running behind with more than 4 or  5 items  that you have not completed by their due dates chances are you will stop using your to do list.  As long as you include everything on your list and you keep ticking things off of it you will continue to grow.  What is important here is that you implement EVERYTHING on your list.  Again, the very process you do not implement could be the one that keeps your company from growing.
